My Discoveries of a Miraculous Science - Ojas Ayurveda
My paternal grandmother was a huge influence on me, especially during my childhood. I loved spending time with her. She was a gifted cook and I, the ever earnest sous chef, would bring my own pots and pans just in case she needed help. The kitchen always wafted with delectable flavours of Indian spices and herbs. But their uses and her expertise transcended the delicious meals she cooked up, and were used as remedies for an upset tummy or to heal a bruise. This was my introduction to the world of Ayurveda, but it didn’t dawn on me until much later that she had been harnessing the wisdom of a 5000-year-old, enlightened Vedic culture.
Many summers later, in the Maldives, a French chef at the hotel walked over to the table my friends and I were seated at for a chat, and amused us by guessing our individual personality traits and the kind of foods we most enjoyed. This was the first time we had ever met him and he was 100% correct in his observations, so I was left sufficiently startled. He read my expression and laughed, explaining to us that he was trained in Ayurvedic and French cooking, and his knowhow about our characteristics was based on the three doshas in Ayurveda. When I returned home, I read every book I could get my hands on and delved deeper into the subject. So much was I taken by it that I decided to go to Kerala to learn more, and bring to you the fruits of my discoveries of a miraculous science that harmonises mind, matter and consciousness.
